Davenport 3, Margaretville 21
The host Margaretville Blue Devils posted a convincing 21-3 victory over the visiting Wildcats of Davenport on Tuesday afternoon. The Devils were once again led by sophomore pitcher Patrick O'Connell, who tallied six strikeouts over four innings. O'Connell complemented his efforts on the mound with a 3-for-3 showing in the batter's box, scoring five runs for Margaretville.
Senior Guy Nobile added three hits and five RBIs.
The Blue Devils moved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in league play. They will travel to Downsville on Thursday.
Roxbury 2, Windham 10
The host Roxbury Rockets dropped a tough 10-2 loss to the visiting Windham Warriors on Tuesday, falling behind by seven runs before posting a two-run fifth inning.
Pitcher David Clark got the loss for the Rockets, who moved to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in league play. Tim Douglas also pitched for Roxbury.
Margaretville 7, Davenport 9
The visiting Blue Devils dropped a tough 9-7 loss to the host Wildcats of Davenport on Tuesday, with a three-run, sixth-inning homerun by Davenport's Sam Meyerhoff driving in the game-winning run.
It was that inning in which it slipped through Margaretville's fingers, with the Wildcats tallying six runs to steal the lead away from the Blue Devils, who led 7-3 going into the inning.
Brittney Hull was on the mound for the Blue Devils, who moved to 1-1 with the loss.
Margaretville 4, Stamford 3
Wins at first and second doubles were key for the Margaretville Blue Devils, who defeated the host Indians of Stamford on Tuesday. Top-seeded duo Alex and Tony Ramos posted a 9-2 victory over Stamford's Cara Murphy and Cati Rottstedt while Garrett Johnson and Adam VanValkenburg defeated Stamford's Ben Bradshaw and Kelly Voorhees 9-6.
The Blue Devils' lead singles player, James Lor, fell to Stamford's Mike Caiazza 9-5, but Margaretville's James Warner and Kory Ancona posted 9-3 and 9-2 wins, respectively.

Margaretville 23, Roxbury 6
The visiting Blue Devils soundly defeated the host Rockets of Roxbury 23-6 Thursday afternoon, with MCS pitcher Patrick O'Connell tallying four strikeouts and complementing his efforts on the mound with three RBIs and two hits, including a double. He pitched three scoreless, no-hit innings, giving up only one walk.
Five other Margaretville players pitched in the win, including Mitch VanKeuren, Ian Williams, Brian Faulkner, Nate Tuch and Chris Costa.
Costa, O'Connell, and John Fairbairn had two hits apiece for Margaretville.
The Blue Devils tallied 13 hits and drew 10 walks in their first win of the season.
Roxbury pitcher Kyle Ciaravino started on the mound for the Rockets; Jacob Liberatore and David Clark also pitched for Roxbury, who rallied for six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Rockets travel to Jefferson on Wednesday.
The Blue Devils will play at Downsville on Monday.
Roxbury 2, Margaretville 3
The host Margaretville Blue Devils squeaked out a win in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday to defeat the Roxbury Rockets, 3-2.
The Blue Devils were down 2-1 heading into the final inning, in which Margaretville loaded the bases and a single by Caitlyn Roberts drove in the tying run. With runners on second and third, Kaitlin Buerge drove a ball into right field to send home Erica Faulkner and clinch the win.
Blue Devils' pitcher Karli Tait tallied the win for Margaretville, which got two runs from junior Emily Kelly and two RBIs from Roberts.
Roxbury pitcher Heather Davie tallied seven strikeouts.
Margaretville will host Downsville on Monday; the Rockets will host visiting Jefferson on Wednesday.
Scores from Tuesday, March 31
Margaretville 2, South Kortright 15
The Margaretville Blue Devils held a 2-1 lead over the host Rams of South Kortright at the close of the second inning, but a 10-run fifth inning, including a two-run homer by Dan Many, sealed the win for Kortright.
Patrick O'Connell singled in the sixth inning to tally Margaretville's only hit.
Kyle Hotaling got the win for the host Rams as Mitch VanKeuren got the loss for Margaretville.
Gilboa 5, Roxbury 0
It was a tough day offensively for the Roxbury Rockets, who were limited to just two hits by Gilboa pitcher Justin Kovacevich. The Rockets' Tim Douglas stole the no-hitter from Kovacevich in the fifth inning with a single in the fifth.
Roxbury 8, Gilboa 2
A team effort from Roxbury pitchers Heather Davie and Jenna Johnston led to a one-hitter for the Rockets, who defeated Gilboa at home on Tuesday afternoon. Davie, who earned the win, tallied seven strikeouts over six innings.
A four-run third inning was key for the Roxbury offense, which was led by Karly Bolger with three runs and five stolen bases.
Windham 4, Margaretville 3
The host Blue Devils of Margaretville Central School fell to visiting Windham, 4-3, in the season opener on Tuesday afternoon.
Margareville's James Lor won 9-6 over Hannah Verhoeven at first singles as teammates Tony Ramos and Alex Ramos defeated John Diesso and Greg Paspalis, 9-4, at first singles.
Margaretville's Adam VanValkenburg and Garrett Johnson fell to Windham's Lisa Davis and Andrea Black, 9-7, in second doubles as the Blue Devils' James Warner fell to Windham's Chris Maynard, 9-4.
