Leaf Peeper Special ready to roll
Phoenicia — With the start of the fall season, don’t miss the opportunity to view the spectacular colors of Ulster County foliage. For the ultimate experience take a ride on the Catskill Mountain Railroad’s Leaf Peeper Special along the Esopus Creek.
Ride the Leaf Peeper Train in the restored 1922 Erie Lackawanna Coach or view the fall colors of the Catskills from open-air flatcars for a wonderful two-hour railroad excursion. The trip includes a stop at the Phoenicia Station, home of the Empire State Railway Museum. Here, passengers can explore railroading both past and present on the Catskill Mountain Railroad Branch Line of the old Ulster and Delaware Railroad.
The Catskill Mountain Railroad’s Scenic Train ride travels along a 14-mile round trip between Phoenicia and Boiceville. With its all-volunteer work force, and its continued effort to expand, the Catskill Mountain Railroad is proud to welcome visitors onboard.
The Catskill Mountain Railroad’s Leaf Peeper Train will operate through November 1; weekends only in September and Fridays, weekends, and holidays in October. Trains depart from the Phoenicia Station at 10:30 a.m., 12:15, 2:00, and 3:45 p.m. and from the Mt. Pleasant Station at 10:45 and 11:40 a.m. and 12:30, 1:25, 2:15, 3:10 and 4:00 p.m. Friday trains in October depart the Phoenicia Station at 2 and 3:45 p.m. and from the Mt. Pleasant Station at 2:15, 3:10, and 4:00 p.m. Adult fares are $14, Children (ages 4-11) ride for $8, and children under four-year-olds ride free.
