Kolb and Horowitz perform Thursday at OCS
Onteora — Onteora Central School District has announced a rescheduled performance by pianist, Justin Kolb, with guest appearance by Mikhail Horowitz, on Thursday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the MS/HS Harry Simon auditorium, Boiceville.
Justin Kolb’s appearance inaugurates Onteora’s Visiting Artists Series, inviting local community musicians and artists to share their work with students and the extended community in the school’s newly refurbished auditorium. The pianist will perform popular works by Chopin and Franz Liszt. Also included is music by Kyle Gann of Bard College, and Woodstock composer, the late Robert Starer. A special feature is Margaret Bond’s “Troubled Water” with a simultaneous reading of a Langston Hughes poem by Mikhail Horowitz.
Fleischmanns resident Justin Kolb has performed in more than 100 recital halls throughout Europe and the Middle East and has appeared at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie.
Additionally, Kolb has developed a nationally recognized program to help students, and their supporters, understand the essential life skills, which the study of music provides.
This concert was rescheduled from its original date of February 4 due to illness.
