July 29, 2009: Possible penalties are a wrist slap

To The Editor:
It is true that the allegations against Father James McDevitt are just that, allegations. But if he is found guilty of all charges, then he should be sent to prison for a long time.
I read that the charges filed against him are misdemeanors and carry maximum sentences of one year in prison.
His alleged conduct with these youngsters will have an effect on them for the rest of their lives. Charging Father McDevitt with misdemeanors is like a slap on the wrist.
