July 29, 2009: Diversity needed for representation

To The Editor:
As I read this week’s edition I find the “Middletown Board debates signage, appointment process” report quite interesting. I quote here – “Planning board member Susan Finch, who sat in the audience, opined that Herz’s outspoken opposition to the Crossroads development should be of serious concern to any appointing board.”
Well, shouldn’t that apply to those that are pro Crossroads Venture, like those that already are sitting on the board? Why is it different when someone is concerned about the environmental impact as expressed by Save the Mountain? I don’t see Susan Finch’s logic on that at all. The community needs diversity on both the town as well as the planning boards. This is a project that affects all of us, not just those on the planning and town boards.
