July 22, 2009: Shandaken issues important matters

To The Editor:
There are two long running and seemingly unsolvable issues in Shandaken: one being the lack of cellular service and the other the deteriorating state of Route 28. Our district members of Congress and the State Assembly have been contacted, as well as department heads at the Department of Transportation, with letters and by phone with pleas for help.
The economy, and the fact that the cellular carriers are private companies, are cited as the problem. Perhaps it is time for state officials and the cellular service providers to hear from the people, the people who need these services. Use the links below to join in signing both petitions to get your voice heard. Perhaps together we can be the pressure that is needed to get this done.
Please pass it on to all that travel Route 28 and Shandaken.
