Joseph P. Doroski, 84, a resident of Grand Gorge, died Friday May 25, 2012 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
Joe was born on September 29, 1927 in Stamford. He was the son of Joseph and Blanche (Swantak) Doroski. He married Shirley A. Dunham on November 8, 1953 in Prattsville.
He attended Stamford Central School. He joined the U.S. Army on June 27, 1946. Joe retired from the Department of Water Resources for New York City, now known as the Department of Environmental Protection, in 1990. He also had worked for Catskill Craftsman of Stamford and McBride Trucking.
Joe enjoyed bowling and golf. He was a member of the Earle Dudley American Legion Post 686 and in prior years served as president of the Grand Gorge Chamber of Commerce, The Shriners and the Oasis Masonic Lodge. He was a Democratic election inspector for the Town of Roxbury.
Joe is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Doroski; two sons, Chris and David; a grandson, Daniel; a sister in law, Betsy Doroski and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda S. Doroski, in 2008.
A memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 16, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Grand Gorge with the Rev. Dottie Morris, officiating. A committal service will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Joseph P. Doroski may be made to the Grand Gorge Rescue Squad Memorial Fund or the Grand Gorge United Methodist Church or the Catskill Area Hospice.
