Jefferson Kelly, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 27, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. “Kelly” as he was known to his family and friends, was born in Fleischmnns, the son of the late Jesse and Oscar Kelly.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sampson in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.
Kelly was an active member of VFW Post 1019 for over 50 years and the past commander. He was also a member of the Zaloga Post, American Legion and Eagles of Rensselaer.
He was the superintendent of #399 State Street, a plumber with Everite Plumbing and more recently worked for and retired from New York State OGS. He was an avid deer hunter and very fond of his dog “Buddy.”
Surviving are a sister, Flora, son, Jeffrey (Debbie) Kelly of Perry, Ark.; daughter, Donna (Nick) Soler of Troy; grandchildren, Matthew (Missy) Kelly St., John (Vickie) Kelly, Nicole Soler, Antonio Soler and great-grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Noah and Trista.
In addition to his parents Jefferson was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Tervay) Kelly.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, (Rte. 155-South of Central).
Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
