Jane Bouton, 69, of Old Rte. 28, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 at the Kingston Hospital. She was born on the farm in Halcott on December 12, 1938, the daughter of the late Alonzo and Margaret Cleveland Ballard. She was a native and lifelong area resident. She had many jobs locally and loved to help people. Most recently she had been the manager of a Fleischmanns motel.
She was an excellent cook, who was known for baking outstanding cheese cakes and rolls. She took beach vacations and valued her long walks along the ocean. She occasionally enjoyed a casino trip and was great on the Six Flags roller coasters. Her grandchildren were the focus of her life.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey of Clovesville; three daughters, Bonnie Bouton and Kelly Curless both of Saugerties, and Veronica Bouton of Lanesville; four sisters, Freda Barley of Mt. Marion, Tillie Fairbairn of Margaretville and Nancy Hewitt of Florida. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Harley, Travis, Brittany, Cory, TJ and Shyanna.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald in 1991 and brother, Eddie and sisters, Alice and infant Dorothy.
A service to celebrate the life of Jane will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. at the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main St., Phoenicia.
Burial is in Halcott Cemetery.
