James Enfield Ashby, 80, of Route 42, Shandaken, died Sunday March 25, 2012 at the Golden Hill Health Care Center in Kingston.
An area resident since 1972, he owned and operated Enfield Electrical Contracting from 1955-2010. Years ago, he had been employed by Republic Aviation in Bethpage.
He had been a member of the IBEW Local #25 of Hicksville, the Suffolk County Motorcycle Club since the 1950s, the American Motorcycle Association, and the Harley Owners Group.
He was an industrious individual who was an avid reader, and a live wire in the group, however; he wanted everyone to know, that he hated hunting, fishing, and camping!
Jim was born on Long Island on March 27, 1931, son of the late James and Violet McReynolds Ashby.
Survivors include his two sons, James and William; four daughters, Anne Victoria Davis of GA, Virginia Mae Ashby of Margaretville, Det. Margaret Marie Dawson of GA, and Elizabeth Ellen Lizzi of NJ. A brother, Dewey of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Nevada Martinez and Elizabeth Hunold; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main Street, Phoenicia. Memorial contributions for pediatrics care may be made to the Burn Center @ www.WestchesterMedicalCenter.com
Friends may gather to remember and honor Jim prior to the service from 6 to 7 p.m.
