Irene Rachel VanNatta, 94, of Roxbury, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at her residence.
She was born March 2, 1914 in St. John‚Äôs, Newfoundland, the daughter of Martin and Annie Brown.
She married Gerald A. VanNatta on November 17, 1941 in St. John‚Äôs, Newfoundland.
She emigrated from Newfoundland in 1942 and became a United States naturalized citizen January 10, 1950.
Irene was a seamstress in Newfoundland and later enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald F. Sr. and Gail VanNatta, Kerhonkson; a daughter, Gloria Laureanti, Roxbury; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a half sister, Bernice Smith, Canada.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald A. VanNatta on September 11, 1985 and a daughter, Joan Brower and a brother, Francis Brown.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with Rev. Randall Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the Kelly Corners Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours will be prior to the service on Wednesday from 3-4 p.m.
Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
