Howard Rose Jr.
Howard A. Rose Jr., 67, of Grand Gorge, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at Robinson Terrace, Stamford, after fighting a battle with cancer.
He was born September 21, 1941, in Roxbury, the son of Howard T. and Daisy Moore Rose.
He was married to Doris Davis and then Gloria Hammond in Roxbury.
In 1965 Howard worked for John H. Heart Plumbing & Heating in Albany. He was a logger with Leonard Buel for three years starting in 1968. He was a finish carpenter, first for Prospect Enterprises, and then a cabinetmaker and carpenter for Windham and Hunter Mountain, building townhouses. Howard was also a horseman for 14 1/2 years, working for Jack Addams, Hensonville.
He was a lifelong resident of Roxbury and returned to Grand Gorge when he became ill.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Jean Rose; three sons, Howard A. (Liz) Rose of Grand Gorge, Robert Rose of Grand Gorge and Rexford (Denise) Rose of Gilboa; 12 grandchildren, Benjamin and Cindy Snell, Michael Weisbrod, Howard Macken, Haydan Rose, Renee and Shawn Rose, Joey Tuosto, Jessica Young, Samantha Rose, Kayla and Raymond Rose; seven great-grandchildren, Thomas, Cammeron, Sierra, Joshua and Emily Snell, Gabe and Tirridan Weisbrod; a sister, Linda (Charles) Brannen of Grand Gorge and a brother, Charles (Etsuko) Rose of Stamford.
He was predeceased by a son, David A. Rose; two brothers, Thomas and Marvin Rose; four sisters, Emily Rose, Margaret Tait, Daisy Ingram and Georgia Boula.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
