Hospital squad has 3 new paramedics
Margaretville — Three ambulance squad members at Margaretville Hospital have recently earned certification as paramedics. Completing the bridge program from registered nurse to paramedic were Nora Todd, Sharon Gavette and Mike Sarubbi.
The paramedic training was offered through SUNY Cobleskill, with instruction held at the Public Safety Building in Delhi. The training took place one to two times per week from February-August 2008. The students concluded their studies by completing practical and written state tests. They were notified of their certification in January.
All three hospital employees are also registered nurses and work in the Emergency Department. They are also members of the ambulance squad. Certification as a paramedic allows the personnel to start intravenous procedures, administer certain medications and use a defibrillator. The three new paramedics join current ambulance squad paramedics Pat Delameter and James Baker.
Margaretville Hospital is a 15-bed acute care facility. The health care campus also includes Mountainside Residential Care Center, an 82-bed long-term care home. Both are members of Health- Alliance. For additional information, please call 845 586-2631.
