History group hosts annual meeting
The Annual Meeting of the Historical Society of the Town of Middletown will be held Sunday, Sept. 7 from noon-3 p.m. at the New Kingston Valley Grange Hall on Cemetery Road, Margaretville.
The afternoon begins with a brunch at noon, prepared by members of the Grange. The menu includes ham, chicken and vegetarian entrees, seasonal local vegetables and a selection of homemade pies for dessert. Reservations are required by September 1. The Annual Report on the society’s activities and projects over the past year will be presented at 1 p.m., and election of members of the Executive Committee (board) will be held. Running for one-year terms as officers are: President Diane Galusha, Vice President Carolyn Konheim, Treasurer Marilyn Pitetti and Secretary Andrew VanBenschoten.
Fran Faulkner, Lucci Kelly and George Hendricks are seeking seats as trustees.

At 1:30 p.m. Carol Berkin, professor of history at Baruch College, City University of New York, will present a talk.
