Henry F. Greene
Henry F. “Harry” Greene, 79, formerly of Wappingers Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at Mountainside Care Center in Margaretville. He was born Feb. 5, 1930 in Brooklyn, son of the late Henry and Marion James Greene. A part-time resident of Fleischmanns since 1953, he became a permanent resident 13 years ago. Above all, he loved his family and organized gatherings throughout the years.
He served not only in the National Guard, but also in his community through service and charity.
Harry was the butcher at Lasher’s Market in Hyde Park for 20 years.
Harry lived a very active life. Years ago he was a lifeguard, and an avid league bowler with a 787 series.
Harry was a member of the Knights of Columbus, past Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree and district deputy.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Theresa Faughman Greene with whom he has been married 58 years; six loving children, Maryanne Sheehan and her husband, Michael of Highland, Harry Greene of Red Hook, Patricia Critelli and her husband, Vic of Rhinebeck, Richard Greene and his wife, Pam of Milton, Catherine Greene of Wurtsboro and Janet Pane and her husband, Joe of Hazlet, N.J.; a brother, Robert Greene of Manorville and a sister, Marion Cochrane of Elmira. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral procession will form on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main Street, Phoenicia. At 10 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Francis de Sales Church.
Burial is in the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery.
