Helen Minier

Helen Agnes Minier, 85, of Margaretville, went to her Heavenly home on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Mountainside Residential Care Center where she lived since 2008.

She was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., on October 22, 1924, the daughter of Leo Blaine and Helen (Schram) Minier. She never married.

She worked hard her whole life. She delivered newspapers around Gull Lake in Michigan, worked as a waitress and attended college in Dayton, Ohio. She was a ‘Number Please’ telephone operator in Dayton. In 1963 Helen went to work for Wm. H. McGee Insurance Company for 25 years.

Helen retired and moved to Roxbury to care for her friend, Lee. After Lee’s death in 2003, she stayed in Roxbury until moving to Mountainside in 2008.

She was quite a lady who sang Opera for the La Puma Opera Company, Inc., in New York City, and entertained her companions at Mountainside.

Helen will be missed by her friends, Marilyn Bourke and Alicia Brazie and her family at Mountainside.

Prayer side services will be held at Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Kalamazoo, Mich.
