Healthy fun is set Sunday April 19 at Frost Valley
Frost Valley YMCA’s third annual “Healthy Kids Day” is planned on Sunday, April 19 from 2-5 p.m.
The event provides an opportunity for young people to enjoy an assortment of physical activities that celebrate health and wellness.
The list of Activities for Healthy Kids’ Day includes: Cheerleading Demonstrations at 2, 3 and 4 p.m.; Tae Kwon Do demonstrations at 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.; Fun Bike Race at 3 p.m.; Healthy Hikes at 2:30 and 4 p.m.; Fun Run at 3:30 p.m.; Tours of Camp at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. and the Flying Squirrel adventure at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Ongoing Activities open from 2-5 p.m. will include: turkey call craft, smokehouse tours, fingerprinting, proper hand washing techniques, indoor climbing, obstacle course, composting/organic gardening, mountain boarding, face painting and yoga.
There will also be free health screenings and healthy snacks.
The Frost Valley event is part of a national YMCA Healthy Kids Day that is celebrated annually as a free, community-based day to promote healthy kids and families by encouraging a variety of activities.
The event is meant as a reminder to parents and children to become more active. Healthy Kids Day will include an information fair to encourage families to evaluate their home environment and make small, sustained changes of their lifestyle. Many community resources will be part of the day providing information and activity on nutrition, fitness, health and safety.
