Hazel Rossman, 85, of Margaretville, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008 at Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville, where she was a resident since Jan. 8, 2003.
She was born in Grand Gorge, July 25, 1923, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary Rousch Mitchell.
She married Kenneth Rossman Nov. 27, 1941 in Allaben.
Hazel assisted her husband with the operation of their dairy farm in Vega. After retiring from the farm they moved to the Red Kill Valley.
She loved doing outside work on the farm and was always working hard in the large vegetable garden and with the flowers. Her lawn always looked like a golf course, but most of all her family was her life.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose and Gordy Stahl, Roxbury, Dorothy and Mike VanBuren, Middlegrove; grandchildren, Dwayne and Dean Stahl, and Lonnie and Richey VanBuren; seven great-grandchildren and one brother, Charles Mitchell of Georgia.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Rossman; two brothers, Carl and Harry Mitchell and sisters, Frances Deleski and Margaret Morey.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury with Rev. Richard A. Dykstra, officiating.
Burial was in the Roxbury Cemetery.
Donations may be made in her name to the Mountainside Residential Care Center Activity Fund.
The family would like to thank the Mountainside Staff for the excellent care they gave her while she was there.
