Harvest Brunch Buffet and Auction set for Sunday at Open Eye
Margaretville — The Open Eye Theater’s annual Harvest Brunch Buffet and Auction takes center stage on Sunday, Nov. 8 from 12 to 3 p.m. at The Open Eye Theater, 960 Main Street, Margaretville. What’s become a local tradition — the homemade brunch — includes irresistible custom-made pancakes with fresh butter and pure maple syrup, along with breakfast meats, baked salmon, fresh fruit, salads, breads, a variety of luscious pies and many other locally baked sweets. Catskill Mountain treasure, Patti Van Tassel and the Gentlemen of Leisure will be on hand to entertain guests with a selection of jazz, pop, and Broadway show tunes. Auction items may be previewed during the brunch.
At 1 p.m. sharp, Chuck McIntosh, of McIntosh Auction will begin selling an outstanding array of contributed items. Headlining the prized items is a rare detailed Map of North America, dated 1735, drawn by 18th-Century Viennese cartographer Matthew Seutter, measuring 29” x 23”, framed in wood and ready to hang; and a stunning 5’ x 10’ hand-tied wool Oriental rug.
Also: a weekend for a family of four at Frost Valley YMCA; and a guest room and spa voucher at the luxurious Emerson Resort and Spa. Additional opportunities for personal rejuvenation include consultations with local and NYC-based hair stylists, a selection of Goldwell Salon Products, and a one-hour Swedish massage by BodyWorx. For sporting enthusiasts, there is a season ski pass to Plattekill Mountain, a Multi-Sport Utility Net, and a golfer’s guide to some of the world’s best courses. Just in time for home holiday entertaining there are gift baskets of teas, wine and cocoa, and decorative and useful home items, including gifts from Woodstock Chimes, Willow Tree and Paisley’s; plus, one-of-a-kind, handcrafted treasures including a hand-turned red oak bowl, a hand-thrown decorative plate, a whimsical winter hat, framed original artwork, and a variety of unique offerings from the Blue Deer Center. Open Eye Harvest Brunch Buffet and Auction tickets may be purchased in advance for $20, or $25 at the door. Children ages 6-12 eat for $5; age five and under are free. Brunch, entertainment, and auction item preview begin at noon; auction begins at 1 p.m. sharp. Left bids will be accepted.
