Gordon W. Rosa, 95, of Margaretville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 27, 1914 in Margaretville, the son of Albert and Della (Vermilyea) Rosa.
Gordon graduated from Margaretville Central School in 1935 and was a lifelong Margaretville resident. He married Frances Hammond on Aug. 17, 1940, in Schoharie.
Gordon was a Union Electrician working for Local #8 then Local #3 working on the maintenance of the New York City Reservoir.
He was a member of Margaretville Masonic Lodge #389.
Gordon enjoyed gardening and woodworking, making wine and was also active in the Boy Scouts when his son, Linden, was a member of the scouts.
Surviving are a son, Linden Rosa, Arkville; grandchildren, Amber Harrild and step grandson, Mathew Baskett; Brothers, Lester Rosa, Ivan Rosa, and Robert Rosa and sisters, Marguerite Fairbairn and Edna Mae Conine. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Rosa, on March 3, 1976; a brother, Orvil Rosa and a sister, Thelma Scott.
A Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6 at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with the Margaretville Masonic Lodge #389 conducting the service.
Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 6 p.m. until service time at 8 p.m.
Burial will take place in the spring at the Old Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville.
Donations in memory of Gordon W. Rosa may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice.
