Glenn E. Miller, 68, of Rt. 28, Shandaken, died suddenly Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 at Kingston Hospital.
He was born January 19, 1943 in Kingston, the son of the late Harry and Ruth Kellerman Miller.
A lifelong resident, Glenn was a 1961 graduate of Onteora Central School.
Glenn owned and operated the Glenn E. Miller Insurance Agency for 35 years.
He was a member, three-time past president, and Paul Harris Fellow of the Phoenicia Rotary, where he took an active part in many of the club’s activities. He had been an active member of the Shandaken Zoning Board, as well as having served as code enforcement officer. He had been a ski instructor, participant in the weekly Pine Hill Arms race competitions at Belleayre Mountain and served on the committee for the P.H. Arms Triathlon.
Glenn loved his community and was a trivia buff on local lore. He was a dedicated and oftentimes opinionated citizen of the Catskills.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Virginia Poythress Miller, two daughters, Ellen Miller of Astoria and Kathleen Vallee of Hyde Park and a sister, Karen Miller of Phoenicia.
A service to celebrate the life of Glenn was held Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main St., Phoenicia.
Private burial to be in the family plot at the Mt. Pleasant Rural Cemetery.
Friends were received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. at the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home.
