Gary Rosa kicks off campaign with speech on Saturday
Delhi — Town of Middletown Justice Gary Rosa will speak outside the Delaware County Courthouse on Saturday, May 26 at 1 p.m., inaugurating his campaign for Delaware County Judge. Rosa, of New Kingston, is the endorsed candidate of the Delaware County Democratic Committee.
Judge Rosa will address “The American Justice System from a Small Town Perspective.” His remarks will touch on the challenges of judging in close-knit rural communities, those of Delaware County specifically.
Judge Gary Rosa is a native of Delaware County, raised in Dry Brook and a graduate of Margaretville Central School. After graduation from SUNY Plattsburgh, and Albany Law School, Gary returned home in 1988, to practice general and family law in Margaretville, and raise a family in New Kingston.
From a large extended family that has long given public service to the people of Delaware County, Gary is married to Lori Rosa, global history teacher at Walton High School. They’ve raised four children: Ryan, 26, a First Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, who just finished a tour of duty in Afghanistan; Brendan, 25, an Army Reservist; Andrew, 22, at home, a graduate in architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston; and Katie, 19, a freshman at Denison University in Ohio.
Known for his calm strength and solid demeanor, Judge Rosa has served 20 years as Judge in Middletown Town Court, where his temperament and intelligence have built a solid reputation as an efficient, fair, and decisive judge.
The immediate past president of the Delaware County Bar Association, Judge Rosa is an active Mason; pro bono legal counsel to the Margaretville Fire Department; member of the board of MARK, a private, not-for-profit, rural economic development agency and a former member of the Margaretville Memorial Hospital Board of Directors.
A self-professed country guy, Judge Rosa likes to hunt, fish, and tinker in his spare time. Each early spring, he makes his own maple syrup, in the sap-house beside his Winter Hollow home.
