Margaretville — Young people ages 5-16 and their parents or guardians are invited to attend a free sample Summer Youth Theater Workshop class at The Open Eye Theater on Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The special class will be led by Jennifer Snyder, who is currently designing the costumes for The Open Eye’s upcoming production of “Steel Magnolias,” and will be co-directing the three-week Summer Youth Theater Workshop in August. In the sample class, students ages 5-7; 8-11; and 12-16 will work on stage.
They will practice improvisation, creative movement, and voice. They will learn basic stage directions and conventions, and the first things to think about in designing a set, costume, or puppet. Adult friends are welcome to participate in the sample class as well.

She has focused on set design, technical production, creative movement, and theater education. In previous seasons at The Open Eye, Jennifer has been assistant director and set designer for the Youth Theater Workshop, and has designed costumes for “The Sapphire Comb.”
