Foster P. Borfitz, a resident of Roxbury, died Thursday May 2, 2013 at Margaretville Hospital following a long illness.
He was born November 26, 1942, the son of Charles and Katherine (Sprague) Borfitz at Inwood.
Foster married Adrian Lombardo in December of 1964 and they raised five children before moving to Roxbury in 1999.
Foster was a man of many trades. He served in the U.S. Army and was also a sanitation and blacktop worker, a school bus driver, and was a member of the Inwood Fire Department. He was also taxi driver but was best known for working for his good friend, Todd Towne Taxi, as a dispatcher.
Foster is survived by his wife of 48 years, Adrian Borfitz; his children, Barbara (Dan) Johnson, Lori (Paul) Rivera, Foster (Violet) Borfitz, Adrianne (Michael) Johnson, and Kim (Scott) Archibald and 18 grandchildren, James, Kristina (Robert) Fahrer, Cody, Danielle, John, Foster, Jessi-lyn, Dylan, Julio, Andy, Matt, Michael, Anthony, Michelle, Matthew, Johnny, and Marissa. Five great grand children, Cameron, Jocelynn, Maria, Kevin, and Isabelle his brother, William (Mary) Borfitz and many nieces and nephews also survive. He also leaves behind his special friends, John Bubach, Budda (Tony), Dr. Paul Llobet and staff, Tulio, and the Margaretville Hospital staff and Hospice staff, Kathy, Maddy, Mary, Peggy-Sue, Patty who helped make his last days peaceful and most of all Rev. Richard Dykstra and the Roxbury EMS staff.
Foster was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Katherine Borfitz, and a brother Charles (Butch) Borfitz.
No funeral services will be held at this time.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Roxbury Fire Department Ambulance Fund or Catskill Area Hospice.
