Former resident brings circus act to Oneonta center
The Bindlestiff Late Night Cabaret will perform at Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta on Saturday, March 28. The evening of “Vaudevillainous Variety” will feature sword swallowers with attitude, jugglers with angst, chicks with whips, audience members on stage, bawdy humor, twisted physical comedy, moments of surreal beauty, and live music, as well as phenomenal juggler and prop manipulator Sean Blue and mind-bending contortionist Miss Ekaterina, performing physical near-impossibilities.
The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus has traveled the globe since 1995, bringing its unique hybrid of vaudeville, circus, burlesque and sideshow to theaters, clubs, colleges and festivals. Co-founded by longtime Margaretville resident and MCS graduate Stephanie Monseu and Keith Nelson, the company has produced innumerable cabaret shows, custom performances for special audiences, all-ages and family productions, and sophisticated adult shows.
Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday with the show starting at 8 p.m. Admission to the show is $15 with a $5 discount available to anyone who wears clown makeup or their “Festive Finest” that could be inspired by such images as: Sawdust ‘n’ Glitter Queen, Bad Ringmaster, Siamese Twins of Different Mothers, Vixens with Whips, Sideshow Oddity, Carnivalesque Pin-Up, and Tears of a Clown.
