Elfriede T. Brybag, 77, of Moran Road, Fleischmanns, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Kingston Hospital. She was born May 2, 1932 in Surinam, South America, daughter of the late Hendrik and Henriet Asmus VanBrussel.
Elfriede was a homemaker who kept her home impeccably clean and neat. She had a talent for cooking various dishes from around the world. She took care of business, with her family being paramount to her. She was also a very outgoing person who enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino, slot machines and lotto cards.
Surviving are her husband whom she married in 1959, Willem; three sons, Errol of Staten Island, William of Oliverea and Joseph of Fleischmanns; five daughters, Rieke Guercio of Kingston, Anneke Vignapiano, Lillian Postma, Ilse Ciprich and Patricia McCann, all of New Jersey; four brothers, Frank, Harry, Eddie and August VanBrussel and one sister, Irene Hilversum of South America.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. Francis de Sales Church, Phoenicia, with Fr. Mathew Azahath as celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery, Route 28, Allaben.
Friends will be received on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home.
