Edith H. Nedwidek, 93, of Hamden, passed away peacefully Thursday night, June 17, 2010 at Countryside Care Center, Delhi. She was born May 13, 1918 in Staten Island, the daughter of Walter and Maud Edith (Erwood) Koenig, and married William J. Nedwidek.
A 60-year faithful member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Edith was fulfilled by her ministry. As a homemaker, she was noted for making wedding cakes, was a wonderful cook and artistic painter, also making dolls and stuffed animals for many children.
Formerly of Frost Valley, she moved to Hamden in 2008, where she lived with her daughter.
Surviving are four daughters, Joanne Estes, Oliverea, Edith (Bill) Vroman, Hamden, Susan Nedwidek, Kent, Wash. And Betty Jane Nedwidek, Fleischmanns; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and a brother, William Koenig, Staten Island. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Nedwidek August 9, 1990; five sisters, Dorothy, Viola, Vera, Margie and Anna.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3 at the Hamden Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
