Earth Day activities set at NYPA in North Blenheim

In celebration of Earth Day, the Blenheim-Gilboa Visitors Center will feature a full program of green-themed family fun on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Activities will highlight the importance of recycling and other Earth-friendly practices with films, games, arts and crafts and a guided nature hike on Power Authority and Minekill State Park trails. Prizes will be awarded to the designer of the best Earth Day poster and every visitor will receive a tree seedling to plant at home.
Guests are also invited to enjoy the admission-free visitors center’s attractions, which include hands-on exhibits for students of all ages and abilities. Visitors can learn how this pumped-storage power project acts like a giant battery, generating hydroelectricity by recycling water between two huge reservoirs. Other displays demonstrate the basics of electricity, energy production and conservation.
The visitors center is located on Route 30, 17 miles south of Middleburgh and five miles north of Grand Gorge.
