James T. Joyce, 29, of Cairo, was the only person involved in the accident. Officers from the Town of Olive Police Department report that the one-vehicle accident occurred in the Shokan area on state Route 28 near Longyear Road.

At approximately 2:49 p.m. on Saturday, Aug.16, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a rollover motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup truck lying on its roof on the east shoulder of the roadway, approximately 10 feet into the woods.
Joyce, the vehicle’s operator, was entrapped in the truck and was semi-conscious. He was extricated from the vehicle by fire and EMS personnel and was airlifted to St. Francis Hospital in Dutchess County.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Olive Justice Court on Wednesday Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.
