Doris E. Ehrhart, 76, of Freeport passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 13, 2012 at Meadowbrook Care Facility Hospice Unit in Freeport.
Doris was born in Oceanside.
In her working career she had been a partner of Ehrhart’s Clam House on Woodcleft Avenue in Freeport. She was a past member of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and an associate member of the Big Indian-Oliverea Fire Co., Inc. Ladies Auxiliary. Doris was a breast cancer survivor.
Doris owned a second home in Big Indian for over 40 yrs. She learned to ski at Belleayre Ski Center. Over the years Doris had many talents and interests, among them she enjoyed sewing, knitting, ceramics, crossword puzzles, reading, games, playing cards, dancing, boating, skiing, snowmobiling and traveling. She was a league bowler and an avid golfer. She especially enjoyed having a good time with family and friends. For many years she cooked for a large crowd of family and friends on Thanksgiving at her cabin in the mountains.
Survivors include a son, Charles “Chuck” Perez and wife Debbie of Big Indian; grandchildren, Laura D’Mello, Jaimie Lee, Brian Perez and Cassie Perez, and great grandchildren Christian Perez and Krystal D’Mello. A brother, Raymond H. Taylor Jr., several nieces and nephews and her dear friend Charlie Holupka also survive.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth C. Vandewater Taylor and Raymond H. Taylor; her second husband, Philip Ehrhart; a son, James Perez; a brother, Bruce E. Taylor, and sisters-in-law Mary Taylor and Ruthie Taylor.
