DEP expedites flood repair permits
To assist landowners and local officials, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced Friday that it has authorized an emergency process to expedite flood repair work in Delaware County.
This emergency authorization allows for expedited review and approval of flood repair projects in and around streams, culverts, bridges, water bodies or wetlands. Individuals, businesses and local governments should contact DEC to obtain a permit prior to undertaking the following types of activities: repair, replacement or clearing of existing bridges, road culverts and appurtenances; and removal of flood-deposited debris.
The DEC Region 4 office has staff available to answer questions and issue permits for areas impacted by the recent flooding. For information about flood repair activities or to obtain a permit in Delaware County, contact the Permits Division at the DEC sub-office in Stamford at 607 652-7741.
