By Jill Ribich
The MARK Project held a roast to honor Dennis Metnick on Friday, upon his retirement from its board of directors. During his 12 years on the MARK Board, Metnick served as chair of the finance committee, vice president and president.
Since opening his law practice in Margaretville in 1992 he has been town attorney for the Town of Middletown and has served on the boards of directors and as a officer of many not-for-profit corporations in the area including the Round Barn of Halcottsville, The Roxbury Arts Group, Shandaken Theatrical Society, Greater Margaretville Chamber of Commerce, Margaretville Hospital, Mountainside Residential Care Center, Delaware County ARC and as a member of the Board of Governors of New York State ARC."
Metnick’s true love has always been the theater where he directs and acts with memorable passion. In reference to Metnick’s portrayal of Tevye in “Fiddler On The Roof,” Lucci Kelly commented, “Walking down Broadway, I spied Dennis ahead. Taking paper and pen out of my purse, I ran up to him to ask for his autograph. Imagine my disappointment when I found Zero Mostel instead.”
MARK Project Executive Director Peg Ellsworth reminded Metnick that although he is retiring from the board, she knows where to find him and will seek out his advice and counsel whenever the need arises.
She added, “You will always be a vital part of the MARK Project.”
The event, emceed by JR Lawrence, was held at Hanah Mountain Resort and Country Club in Margaretville and was attended by over 90 people from the local community as well as friends and relatives who traveled from other states.
