Day Camp open houses May 4 and 18 at Frost Valley

Frost Valley YMCA in Claryville has planned a series of open houses for its Day Camp programs. Day Camp Open Houses are scheduled on Sundays, May 4 and May 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Frost Valley’s renowned Day Camp program will run on the following dates: June 30 through July 11, July 14 through 25, July 28 through August 8, August 11 through 22 and August 25 through 29.

Monday-Friday programs
Day Camp sessions are for two weeks (unless noted) and are for children ages 4 to 16. Program hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Program space is limited.
The Explorers’ Day Camp is available for children ages four and five. This is an introduction to Day Camp for young campers. Participants receive the time and space they need to play, pretend, draw, read and bond with their friends and counselors. Activities include daily swimming, hayrides, games and short hikes. Day Camp is for children who have completed grades kindergarten-five. Campers participate in small, age-based activities. Children enjoy plentiful activities each session.
‘Tween Camp is for sixth-graders and is designed to get campers to plan activities like hiking local Catskill peaks and leave camp on the special excursions which they assist in developing.
Teen Camp is for students in grades 7-10. Participants pick one or more session, each with its themed activities and trips. The adventures are plentiful.
The Leaders-in-Training Program is for boys and girls aged 15-16. Campers learn to be ethical, loved, respected and responsible leaders.

Camp activities
Day Camp activities (depending on the program) include: swimming, archery, climbing, boating, ropes courses, team building, active games and sports, arts and crafts, gardening, music, theme days, environmental and science projects, sing-a-longs, values-based activities, cooking, family nights and more.
Frost Valley YMCA is located seven miles from Claryville, on County Route 47. From Big Indian (Route 28) turn onto county Route 42 and drive 14 miles to Frost Valley. Bus pick-up service for Day Camp is available at a number of locations in Sullivan and Ulster counties.
Frost Valley also offers an acclaimed Resident Camp from late June through late August for boys and girls ages 7-16. Registration is now open for both Day Camp and Summer Camp.
