David Jeffrey Pendell, 70, a resident of Margaretville, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.
Jeff was born December 16, 1943 at Bath, the son of Edward and Frances Maybell (Tabor) Barton.
He attended Margaretville Central School and then entered the U.S. Army where he served as a military police officer. Jeff worked as a troubleshooter for a propane gas company in the Plattsburgh and Newburgh areas. Jeff owned a service station in Arkville and also served as a police officer for the Village of Margaretville. He retired from the Town of Middletown Highway Department where he worked for several years before becoming the Superintendent of Highways for the Town of Middletown.
He had been an active member of the Margaretville Fire Department, the Margaretville Hospital Ambulance Squad, and the Middletown American Legion Post 216. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time at his hunting cabin.
Jeff is survived by children, Amber Endaya, Jeffrey Pendell Jr. and Bob Soules; sisters, Kathy Barnes and her husband Gene, and Jill Russell Hoffman; a brother, Bill Russell and his wife Trudy; grandchildren, Rachel Soules, Jessica Soules, Philip Soules, Darien Soules, Ryan Campbell, Sean and Adriana Endaya, and Danika Peters and great grand children, Ryan Campbell Jr. and Baily Campbell.
Calling hours will be held at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the New Kingston United Presbyterian Church. Pastor Shirley Davis will officiate.
Committal will be in the New Kingston Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Jeff may be made to the Margaretville Fire Department or the Margaretville Hospital Ambulance Squad.
