County fair offers old-fashioned fun

The 126th Delaware County Fair opened Sunday and continues through Saturday, Aug. 18 at the fairgrounds in Walton.
The theme of this year’s fair is: “Farming – A Novel Idea.” Below are some of the highlights of the remaining fair schedule:

Wednesday, Aug. 15
• Children’s Day – Reduced Rates on Rides
All Day Growing Food, Growing Healthy Through Gardening – Cornell Cooperative Extension
All Day 4-H Horse Show – Western and Trail
All Day 4-H Public Presentations (4-H Building)
Daily Free Entertainment on the Entertainment Court
4-5:00 p.m.: Eat Smart New York – Gardening/Local Food Demonstrations
5:00 PM Wildlife Federation Children’s Drawing
6 p.m.: Old-Tyme Draft Horse Show
7:30 p.m.: NYTPA (Modified Truck and Tractor Pull)

Thursday, Aug. 16:
• Senior Citizens’ Day – Seniors $3 Admission
• All Day Pay One Price Rides - $20 with coupon, $21 without coupon
• All Day Open Class Horse Show – Hunt Seat
• All Day Tractor Pull
• 6 p.m.: 4-H Dog Show (Obedience, Grooming & Handling, Costume Class & Games)
• 6:30 p.m.: 4-H Sheep Olympics followed by 4-H Animal Dress-Up Contest
• 7:30 p.m.: Street Legal 4x4 Pickups, Invitational Big Rig Truck Pull, & Super Farm Tractors

Friday, Aug. 17:

• 1:30 p.m.: IBR Professional Bull Riding
• 6 p.m.: NYS Horse Puller’s Association Horse Pull – Horse Show Ring

Saturday, Aug. 18:
