Congressman Murphy visits Delhi

Delhi — A receptive crowd gathered at the Crossroads Café & Coffee Bar in Delhi last Saturday at 11 a.m. to attend Congressman Scott Mur-phy’s first “Congress at Your Corner” in Delaware County.
Delaware County Board of Supervisors Chair, Jim Eisel, introduced Murphy to the room of constituents that included Andes Supervisor, Marty Donnelly, and Delaware County Dem-ocratic Committee Chair, Cindy Lockrow-Shimmerling.
Murphy said his first week in Washington has been exciting and included work to pass The Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act of 2009, The Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act of 2009 and Credit Cardholders Bill of Rights.
The Congressman held a question and answer period and later spoke to attendees one on one.
Murphy, a Democrat, won a recent special election to fill the 20th Congressional District seat vacated when Kirsten Gillibrand was appointed to the U.S. Senate.
Murphy was officially sworn in on Wednesday, April 29.
