Congregation Bnai Israel to mark 90th anniversary

Fleischmanns — Congregation Bnai Israel of Fleischmanns will celebrate its 90th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 2 p. m. with a gala program of history, song and dance.
Tim Mulvaney, master of ceremonies, David Schneiderman and June Meinstein will offer a chronology of events in the life of Congregation Bnai Israel and of Fleischmanns. A slide show of artifacts, interviews and photographs will be shown. The congregation chorus, under the direction of Rabbi Moshe Pomerantz, will offer a selection of Hebrew, Yiddish and English songs.  Chorus members include Georgette Banks, Marsha Biederman, Nancy Feldman, Paula Herbst, Marilyn Ippolito, Lola Kurtzer, Naomi Lurie, Debra Rubin, Fanny Steinhauser, Al and Hannah Tanzer, with Adam Ippolito, accompanist.
The Bnai Israel dance group will make its debut starring Marsha Biederman, Marilyn Ippolito, Lola Kurtzer, Nancy Michaels, Yvonne Reuter, Debra Rubin, Fanny Steinhauser and George Sole.
The collection of historic memorabilia was assembled and recorded through the efforts of Anita Rubin, Elizabeth Bernhardt, Tim Mulvaney and Gil Rubin.
The synagogue, chartered in 1918, was built in 1920 and is currently affiliated with the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism.  The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and has handicapped access.
