Claire Rubin, 94, of Bonnie View Avenue in Pine Hill and Brooklyn, died on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011.
She was born August 9, 1917 in Budapest, Hungary. She immigrated to New York City in 1921 at the age of four with her parents, Julius and Rose Fleishmann, and her brother, Robert. She married Leon Rubin on January 6, 1949. They shared a very happy life together until his passing on February 12, 1982.
She was trained as a pianist, and led an all-girls band during the late 1930s and early 1940s. She had been a part-time resident of Pine Hill since 1946.
She is survived by her two loving sons and daughters-in-law, Gil and Debra Rubin and Stan and Meryl Rubin. She also had four adoring grandchildren, Zach, Emily, Lindsay and Josh. She experienced much joy participating in all of their lives.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Congregation B’nai Israel in Fleischmanns or the Morton Memorial Library in Pine Hill.
