Chamber of Commerce plans mixer at new Arkville gym

The new and expanded facilities and programs of the Cornerstone Health and Fitness Center now in Arkville will be showcased at an April 22 member to member mixer sponsored by the Greater Margaretville Chamber of Commerce during the hours of 5-7 p.m.

The new location adjacent to the caboose near the crossroads on Route 28 in Arkville provides increased capacity and many new programs as well as a multi- use space for the community. Cornerstone will continue its successful weight lifting, cardio and 30-minute hydraulic circuit and fit and trim programs.

With additional space Cornerstone will now offer Silver Sneakers, an innovative insurance-based membership program. Silver Sneakers blends physical activity, healthy lifestyle and socially oriented programming that allows older adults to take greater control of their health. Silver Sneakers members receive customized classes designed for older adults to improve their strength, flexibility, balance and endurance.

Joan Cogan is eager to offer rentable space for private practitioners. Members of the Catskills Connection for Health and Wellness, a network for the exchange of information and experiences about holistic healing methods and practices, will be on hand during the Mixer to describe the many resources they offer: Reiki, Acupuncture, Aroma Therapy, Massage Therapist and Hypnotherapy to name just a few. A yoga studio, kickboxing, salsa dancing, martial arts and a children’s exercise program are all on the schedule.

“With this new space we can offer many exciting programs,” Cogan said, “and we look forward to growing our business and serving the health and fitness interests of our community.”

Reservations can be made by calling the GMCC at 586-3300. Catered by the Cheese Barrel of Margaretville. $15 fee may be paid at the door.
