Catskills author signs books Saturday at Skene

Skene Memorial Library and The Greater Fleischmanns Museum of Memories host a brief book talk and signing by Catskills author John Ham. His new book, One Hundred Years on ‘Resort Ridge;’ The Legendary Mountain Hotels of the Northern Catskills, has just been published.
Ham has written a number of previous books on railroading in the Catskills, and decided to turn his focus to the great old hotels that graced our landscape many years ago. The number and quality of the images in the book are stunning. He sought help from other local area historians on their individual towns, and the result is a 448-page volume that covers the history of the northern Catskills in amazing detail.
The talk will take place on Saturday, July 12 starting at 1 p.m. at Skene Library, Fleischmanns, with the focus on how the book was created, and the assembly of such a great collection of images. A question and answer session will follow; Ham will then be happy to sign copies of the book, until 3 p.m.
He has generously offered to donate a large portion of the proceeds to Skene Library and to the Greater Fleischmanns Museum of Memories.
