"Carousel" on stage at MCS May 7 and 8

Margaretville — The MCS Scitamard Society will present the musical “Carousel” on Friday and Saturday, May 7 and 8 in the school auditorium. The musical, with book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein and music by Richard Rogers, will be seen at 7 p.m. both evenings. Tickets for adults will be $6, students and senior citizens tickets will be $3 and all children nine-years-old and under are free.
Among the gifted young people who will be performing are MCS senior class members Garrett Fairbairn as Billy Bigelow, Michelle O’Reilly as Nettie Fowler, Taylor McVitty as Mrs. Mullin and Jacob Johnson as Jigger Craigin.
Fellow class of 2010 member Anjelica Pugliesi-DeLuca is also involved as costume assistant to the production.
Class of 2011 participants and seasoned players include Katie Rosa as Carrie Pipperidge and Travis Roberts as mill-owner David Bascombe along with Scitamard first-timer Tyler Smith as Enoch Snow.
Junior Grant Cure joins the crew for the first time on the show, which is being stage managed by longtime Scitamard participant and classmate Matthew Gray. The show also features fellow 2011 class members Patrick O’Connell, Olivia Todd and Drew Sylvester in featured roles.
Sophomores involved with the production are Sarah Hagakore, Genesis Quinones, Amy Filupeit, Kristi Gavette, Danielle Hull and Erin Filupeit as Julie Jordan as well as Marshall Bouton who is making his stage debut here.
Caleb Todd, acting in several roles, as well as Randy Morse, crew, are freshman participants in the production. Matthew Gray is also providing assistance on sound to adult mentor Anthony Ploutz, a longtime Scitamard supporter and friend.
Other adult mentors assisting on the show are Director Marjorie Miller and Musical Director and Accompanist Kent Brown.
Additionally Dick Tucker will be conducting a pit orchestra consisting of Robin White and Margaret Tucker on flute, Rebecca Maeder Chien and Alexa Finch on clarinet along with Caitlyn Brew on bass clarinet, tenor sax player Jerry Schor, Marianne Schor on synthesized strings, Tamara Snyder and MCS instrumental teacher Cassi Olin on trumpet, Connie McAfee on French Horn and Carl Tucker on bass.
