Candace “Candy” Staiger Backstrom, 67, of Roaring Brook Road, Highmount, died Sunday March 9, 2014 surrounded by her family at home.
She was born June 30, 1946, a daughter of the late John and Mary Wright Staiger. She was an Onteora High School graduate who served over 20 years as legal secretary to attorneys in Kingston including William Pretsch, Eli Basch, and Alfred Mainetti.
She was an avid reader, and traveled extensively with her husband on business trips. She lived in Florida for sometime, and commuted to Texas frequently to see Klaus. Her family shared that the radiance of her kindness and beauty were nonpareil.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Tom and John Staiger.
