Pendleton, NC — Bruce Eugene Everett Sr., 75, former area resident of Halcottsville and New Kingston, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in New York City on November 30, 1932, the son of the late Elizabeth Reid and Charles Everett.
An Army Air Force veteran and a member of Rotary International, Bruce was a retired owner/operator trucker and had worked for the Roxbury Central School 18-1/2 years as a bus driver and custodian.
Bruce was a Roman Catholic.
He was well-known and loved by many for his good heart, sense of humor and unselfish giving of his time in assisting others.
Left in their hearts to forever cherish his memory are his wife, Ella Walter Everett, one daughter, Barbara McGrath and husband, Carey, of Courtland, VA; two sons, Bruce E. Everett Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Conway, NC and John R. Everett and wife, Terry, of Norwood, NC; five grandchildren, Rebecca and Trey McGrath, Michael Hash Everett, Brandy R. Everett, Michael Everett; sister, Florence E. Bonocorda of Greenwich, CT; nieces, Florence Bonocorda of Bakersfield, CA, Mary Beth Greco and husband Joseph, of Greenwich, CT and Jane Henderson and Dr. Richard Henderson of Williamgton, DE and nephew, Gregory Everett of Missouri and many friends.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Ann Everett, a grandson, Stephen E. Everett and two brothers, Charles and John O. Everett.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 27 at the Wright Funeral Home in Boykins, VA with Reverend Richard Gordon officiating. A memorial mass will be given on Sunday, June 29 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Ahoskie.
