Boating Safety Certification Course offered July 11 at NYPA
North Blenheim — A New York State safe boating certification course will be held Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project visitors’ center.
Dennis Downs, a certified instructor with the Northeastern New York Safety & Health Council, Inc., will conduct the free eight-hour course.
To receive the safe boating certificate, participants must complete the classroom session and pass the final exam with a grade of 75 percent or more, and must be at least 18-years old. New York State charges a $10 administrative fee to obtain the certificate.
Coffee and tea will be served, but those attending should bring lunch. Contact Steve Ramsey, at NYPA’s Blenheim-Gilboa facility, at 800 724-0309, before July 4, to reserve your place.
The admission-free visitors center, open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is located 17 miles south of Middleburgh at 1378 state Route 30, North Blenheim.
