Bnai Israel celebrates anniversary Sunday

Congregation Bnai Israel in Fleischmanns will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m. with a program of song, videos, inspirational messages and special refreshments. “Positively Israel” is the title of a presentation by Ronnie Gold, a former national officer of Na’amat, Pioneer Women, who lived in the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem with her husband from 1980 to the mid-90s. Mrs. Gold, a member of the congregation, is a Woodstock artist.
The choral group of the congregation will present a dramatic history of Israel in song, from its pioneering days to modern times, under the direction of Rabbi Moshe Pomerantz. Members of the group include Georgette Banks, Nancy Feldman, Paula Herbst, Marilyn Ippolito, Michael Koppelman, Dolores Kurtzer, Naomi Lurie, Leon Rosenberg, Debby Rubin and Fannie Steinhauser with accompaniment by Adam Ippolito.
There will be a drawing for prizes related to the anniversary. Congregation Bnai Israel is located on Wagner Avenue in Fleischmanns. The public is invited.
