Margaretville’s varsity tennis team is now 4-0 after blanking Stamford 7-0 in match play April 10 at home.

First seed Andersen Morse has been contributing strong leadership going 4-0 having bested his peers at Roxbury (Jon Dykstra 9-1) and Charlotte Valley (Ian Kosckiusko 9-2), and at home vs. longtime rival Alex Porter of WAJ, 9-4 and, finally, Stamford’s Chelsie Reeve, 9-1.

MCS 2nd seed Dante Tarantini has had a slightly rougher start going 3-1 with a loss at home to WAJ’s Nick Porter (4-9 after beating the Rockets’ Alisa Fersch 9-3 and CVCS’ 2nd seed Ray Beams 9-3 at CV) and, on the 10th, the Rams’ Mike Caizza, 9-0.

Morse’s co-captain Jessica Srp, filling both third- and fourth-seed positions for MCS, is also 4-0 with a forfeit at RCS and wins at  CV (9-5 over Nic Brown), WAJ (Kyle LaPierre, 9-3) and SCS (Emily Wright, 9-1).

Josh Rodriguez lost to WAJ’s Karl Goettsche 6-9 in his first outing for MCS but evened his record vs. SCSs third-seed Michaela Murphy winning handily, 9-1.

Michelle O’Reilly lost her first match this year in fourth seed vs. Kevin Lutz at RCS 4-9 but came back for wins playing fifth at Charlotte Valley vs. Megan Hotaling, 9-7, and in a close contest over WAJ’s fifth-seed Zack Black, 10-8.

Holly MacDonald and Billy Svoboda have teamed up to go evens (1-1) thus far this season beating WAJ’s top doubles team 9-5 after falling 7-9 to the Rockets’ Kaitlyn Brew and Tiffany Faulkner. Svoboda played fifth-seed vs. SCS and  contributed another point to his team’s win beating Julie Bright, 9-4.

Overall match scores for the Blue Devils are 4-3 at RCS, 4-3 at CVCS, 5-2 vs. WAJ, and 7-0 vs. SCS.
