Blood drive at Grand Gorge firehouse on July 29

Grand Gorge — The Grand Gorge Rescue Squad will hold an American Red Cross blood drive at their firehouse on Friday, July 29 from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. This blood drive was originally scheduled to be held on July 25.

The Red Cross has issued an appeal for blood donors of all types due to a critical blood shortage across the nation.

In May and June, donations were at the lowest level the Red Cross has seen in this timeframe in over a dozen years, while demand for blood products remained steady. Because of that, the Red Cross needs blood donors now more than ever. All types are needed, but especially O negative, which can be used to treat any patient.  The American Red Cross highly encourages all type O negative blood donors who meet the eligibility requirements to double the difference by becoming a double red cell donor.

If you are willing to donate blood, please call 800-RED-CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org to sign up for an appointment on Friday, July 29 between the hours of 12:30 and 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Gorge Firehouse.
All donors receive a coupon for a free carton of Friendly’s ice cream.
