Biomass project will be the topic of Feb. 1 meeting in Fleischmanns
Jim Waters, executive director of the Catskill Forest Association, will present the outcome of a feasibility study conducted by a consultant firm, Biomass Energy Resource Center (BERC), and funded by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection and United States Department of Energy on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m., following the Fleischmanns First monthly meeting at La Cabana Restaurant,
The study, regarding a woody biomass heating system for Fleischmanns, was begun in 2011 and completed in 2013. The issues are compelling from an environmental point of view as well as fiscally. In Governor Cuomo’s State of the State Address earlier this month, he highlighted the need for cleaner communities and announced his Renewable Heat NY program.
Waters will discuss how the proposed biomass project for Fleischmanns would target the governor’s goals and he will explore all of the relevant criteria of the project in a 30-minute presentation and then take questions from the audience.
The public is welcome.
