Beck Scholar Athlete Award winners named at local schools

The Delaware League has announced the names of 11 scholar athletes who have been chosen 2013-14 Joseph P. Beck Scholar Athlete winners. Also, four other award nominees were awarded certificates.
The Delaware League Scholar Athlete Award, named in memory of the late Stamford Central School Superintendent Joseph P. Beck, was established as a means to bring recognition to high school seniors who participate in interscholastic competitions while maintaining outstanding academic records and who have performed many community and school services throughout their high school careers.

Seven female students were named winners. They are: Bailee Hymers of Charlotte Valley, Melanie Champlin of Downsville, Samantha Dibbell of Hunter-Tannersville, Emily Wenner of Jefferson, Elizabeth Davis of Roxbury, Meghan Voorhees of Stamford, and Mattie Seamans of Windham-Ashland-Jewett.

Award nominees who received certificates are Kyle Wamsley of Charlotte Valley, Hunter Grace of Gilboa-Conesville, Annette Hogan-Auchmoody of Margaretville and Nicholas Spinetti of Windham-Ashland-Jewett.
