Barbara Buccheri

Barbara (Cowan) Buccheri of Laurens, formerly of Roxbury, went to the arms of Our Lord on August 17, 2012. She passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center with loved ones in attendance after battling a long illness.

The daughter of Donald and Elizabeth (Alverson) Cowan, Barb was born on May 5, 1940 in Margaretville. After graduating from Margaretville High School, she worked at Albany Medical Center as a cardio technician.

Barb continued her education at Binghamton School of Nursing and after graduation was licensed as a Practical Nurse and worked at the old Margaretville Hospital.

In Mount Vernon, Barb met her beloved husband of 45 years, Bill. After becoming pregnant with the couple’s first child, Barb decided to be a stay-at-home mom, a decision that she never regretted. She lived for her family and always put them first. A devoted wife and mother she glowed with the love she had for her family.

Before becoming ill, Barb enjoyed camping with her family, playing golf, bowling, playing Mahjongg and just having a good time.

She also volunteered as an election inspector for the Roxbury Central School District. In 2001, Barb was chosen Democrat of the Year by the Delaware County Democratic Committee.
